Development of guidelines: Eco Design of Plastic Packaging

The "Round Table Eco Design of Plastic Packaging" is an IK-initiated initiative of industry experts along the entire value chain of plastic packaging (packaging, food and consumer goods, retail and plastics recycling), science and consumer protection. The aim of the Round Table is to promote the eco-design of plastic packaging, primarily through the development of guidelines and recommendations for the actors in the value chain. As part of this project, Ökopol developed the "Eco Design of Plastic Packaging" guide. This management guide aims to identify and implement management processes, strategies and methods for the development of packaging solutions that are consistent with the environmental policies of companies and brands. The guide supports top managers, product managers, marketing directors, packaging developers and designers in implementing Eco Design. The guidelines provide detailed information and tools with regard to "Design for Optimised Resource Use," "Design for Sustainable Sourcing," "Design for Environmentally Sound Use," and "Design for Recycling."
