Analysis of the status quo of VOC emissions from mineral oil products from the cleaning of rail tank cars, inland tankers, road tankers, pipelines, storage tanks, and tank containers (FKZ: 3722 36 302 3)

Reducing emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is a nationally and internationally recognized environmental goal, particularly in view of the ozone problem. The long-term goal is to permanently keep ground-level ozone concentrations below 120 μg/m³, below which no harmful health effects are expected (WHO Convention). In Germany, reporting of VOC-emissions is done by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA). This project aims to improve the reporting in multiple subcategories of the data-collection methodology. This includes an analysis of the current state of VOC-emissions from the internal cleaning of different means of transportation of mineral-oil products (tank containers/transport vessels, sea and inland tankers, pipelines, rail tank cars and trucks) and tanks (storage tanks in refineries etc.). Among other things, a survey of stakeholders / experts is carried out.
