Study on “Risks and safe use instructions for articles containing Candidate List substances” ECHA/2022/43

In this project, exposure scenarios and a catalogue of standard phrases for the lifecycle stages ‘processing (complex) articles’, ‘article service life’ and ‘waste treatment of (complex) articles’ are being developed. The aim is to develop exposure scenarios that are generic (covering several use cases), pragmatic and ‘easy to use’ in order to ensure that article suppliers, who are usually not familiar with chemicals risk assessment, can use them. As a result, the safety while using Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) in articles will be improved. The results of the study will support the economic actors in selecting appropriate instructions for `safe use´ for their communication in supply chains as well as during the notification process to the SCIP-database of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
