Scientific contributions to the implementation of the Ecodesign Directive and the Energy Labelling Directive – Third Working Programme (FKZ 3716 37 3120)

The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) play a key role in the processes for the implementation of the Ecodesign Directive (Directive 2009/125/EC) and the Energy Labelling Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2017/1369) at EU level. The overarching goal of these product and environmental policy instruments is to contribute to energy savings and resource conservation. The aim of this project was to scientifically support the work of the BMU and the UBA to implement the Ecodesign Directive and the Energy Labelling Regulation. The project included the examination of preparatory and review studies for four product groups, the preparation of brief reports on draft regulations for six product groups, accompanying two self-regulation initiatives, the preparation and implementation of three expert discussions as well as further assistance, such as the creation of data sheets on approved Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations.
